    Weeks of hard training in Big Bear, California, lots of sparring against bigger fighters. Day of the fight, take a nap before the fight, focus and concentrate on the fight.

    Who are some of your favorite fighters, and why?

    Sugar Ray Robinson is my favorite fighter because he's a middleweight, not heavy weight, not a small guy. Very smart, strong, he's my idol!

    That's a difficult question to answer! I think women!

    At what age did you start boxing?

    Wow, 10 years ago. Long, long time.

    What do you think of the American training system? And what are the differences with the European system?

    They're different, that's a great question. I think the American system is more technical than the Kazakhstan system, but the Kazakhstan system is more hard work.

    What was your most memorable fight?

    I think the Olympic games were most memorable for me.

    No, never before. I have a twin brother who also boxes, but before us there was nobody.

    What are traits that a young fighter needs to possess in order to be successful in boxing?

    Firstly, discipline and second, dedication.

    What is your training regimen like? Do you have any parts of your training that you really wish you didn't have to do?

    I like training! All training is helpful for me.

    Who knows, maybe! This is boxing, this is fighting, it's very unpredictable, you just never know.

    What do you like to do when you're not boxing?

    Spend time with my family, wife and one boy, three years old. I enjoy to vacation with my family.

    Who inspired you to become a boxer?

    I was inspired by the other numerous Kazakhstan fighters who had done well in the amateurs.

    Are you going to pace yourself during the fight or you are going to press Proksa right away?

    Slow at first and then fast. Keep him guessing!

    What advantages do you think you have over Proksa?

    Proksa is a very good strong, very tough fighter, very difficult fight... but I'm stronger and hit harder.

    What advice do you have for the young boxing community?

    Train hard and focus, be determined. Never give up, always keep moving forward in your training and learning about the sport.

    What do you feel is your best attribute as a pro boxer?

    My best attribute is probably my patience. I'm a patient fighter.

    What other sports do you like besides boxing?

    I'm from Kazakhstan so I like basketball, soccer, and hockey, too.
