  • Q

A huge thank you to Chris Lilley for joining us today, the day after Angry Boys premiered in the US. Chris, what has it been like bringing the series to America?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

umm exciting. reading all the character quotes on twitter last night was very cool

  • Q

Are you ever worried about people getting incredibly offended at your characters, such as Polynesians getting mad at Jonah? (best character ever by the way)

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

nah no one ever does. it's just funny

  • Q

What was it like playing Ja'mie? and what did you have to wear underneath her Dress? .you said you don't look attractive as a girl.. well In fact, you do! LOL

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

thanks. i secretly think ja'mie is really hot too. she was a lot of fun to play. i wore girls undies. you don't want to see what that looks like

  • Q

Will we ever see Jonah, Mr. G, and/or Ja'mie again?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

yep. they're all coming back at some point. hopefully soon

  • Q

Now that you’ve had the opportunity to film in other parts of the world, is there anywhere else you would like to film at?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

    umm maybe tonga

  • Q

In a few of his characters, Chris manages to pull of lots of stuff that would make me feel like a bit of a noob (e.g. Mr. G’s ‘Movement Piece’). But does he have a line? What would make him too embarrassed to do?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

as long as its funny there's no embarassment and no line that can't be crossed. I didn't realise I looked like a "noob" though. how embarassing

  • Q

    Planning any more shows?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

    yeS!

  • Q

Have you ever considered doing a British character? Maybe something like in Little Britain. Lily (London)

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I would love to play a british character one day. my accent wavers between scottish and irish very easily though

  • Q

how long does it normally take you to dress as all your different characters? :)

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

Blake takes about 2 minutes as he pretty much wears the same stuff as me. Jen took about 20 minutes as she has corsets and fake boobs and strange undergarments that you don't wanna know about. Gran was a full padded body suit that was incredibly hot. But easy to slip on!

  • Q

Now that you've branched out into Japan and America - do you have any plans to come up with characters from any other countries? Like a redhead from the UK LOL!

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

That would be cool. I haven't done a ranga yet. Unless you count Pat. Who was more of a strawberry blonde I think she claimed at some point

  • Q

Are you going to bring any characters back for the next series?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I love doing new characters but I am very keen to bring back some oldies too in the next one too.

  • Q

When you was little, what did you want to be when you was older?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I seriously wanted to dress up as characters and make funny shows. It was always the plan. Deep down didn't think it would come true. But it did!!

  • Q

Where did your inspiration for Summer Heights High come from?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I did Mr G as a stand up comedy character in the late 90's and then made a short film about his life at a school in 2001. It was based on that short film (which was shot in a mockumentary style).

  • Q

Did you like London and will you come back?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I LOVED London and definitely want to come back.

  • Q

What is your favourite swear word?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

    fuckface

  • Q

What is your favourite hashtag of all time on twitter? #microway possibly?!

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

    how did you know? #microway

  • Q

Did you get dizzy when you rolled around as Pat Mullins?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

YES!! It's much harder than it looks. And you sometime whack your head on things too

  • Q

Is it true that you have the wigs at home in a cupboard? Do you ever put them on and wear them around or role play?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

Yeah they're all in a cupboard on foam heads. Sometimes I put them on guests who stay at my house.

  • Q

    favourite pet to work with?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I really liked Celine. She had a limp and did some really cool expressions. Most dogs end up terrified of me because the characters are always yelling at them. Ja-rule ran away from Daniel because he was always yelling out "NATHAN" in a loud voice.

  • Q

Would you date any of your characters if they were real?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I have a game which was "who would I sit next to on a long flight". I chose Nathan because he's quiet and funny. The rest of them would be a nightmare on a flight. I might date Ja'mie but I'd have to wait til she gets out of school. She might be hot when she's older..

  • Q

Hey Chris! I heard recently that you like "The Only Way is Essex". What is it about shows of that type that you like? and are you Reem? (I'm an Essex girl innit.)

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I'm definitely part of the reem team.

  • Q

If your female characters existed as real people and the fate of humankind depended on you getting with one of them, which would it be?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

    Gran

  • Q

Is it true that your mum has a cardboard cutout of ja'mie?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

YES. She begged an ABC shop to give it to her. I recently told her off for throwing it out so she set it up by her pool and took a photo of herself standing next to it. She also wears a Gaystyle T-shirt

  • Q

Do you shoot all the characters parts at one time. Like do all of Ja'mie's story then move on to Mr.G?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

Yeah mostly its like that. But sometimes I have to do days where I'm more than one. I remember having lunch with Ja'mie's friends while dressed as Jonah. They kept staring at me weirdly.

  • Q

did you ever think your shows would be as successful as they are?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

Didn't think they'd be as big but I knew some people would really love them.

  • Q

sneaky nuts, for realsies or fakies?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

Real but some had to be fake because of children being on set. But I get asked to do it all the time when I'm out and about and those ones are real.

  • Q

I loved Mr G - The Musical, did you enjoy making it as much as I enjoyed watching it?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

I LOVED that musical. I felt like Mr G did. I wanted to be in it. I'm hoping one day to write it fully and maybe perform it somewhere.

  • Q

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

The make-up?? It took about 2 hours and we got it down to an hour and a half. It's a fake nose. And lots of tricky make up things. It gets air brushed on.

  • Q

Profile pic mate, when ya gonna change it?

    Share

    A
    Chris Lilley says:

    haha. (middle finger)

  • Q
